Step Pain-Free: Understanding Foot Pain & Our Walk Well Workshop!

Struggling with foot pain while walking or running? You deserve to move with ease and longevity, and we’re here to help you make every step feel good. Let’s break down some common types of foot pain and their possible causes—because I believe your foot should feel like a foot in all the shoes you wear (check out some great brands in the pics!). Common Foot Pain & Possible Causes:

  • Bunions: That bony bump at the base of your big toe? It might come from tight shoes, or repetitive stress, causing pain and misalignment when you walk or run.


  • Exercises that could possibly help: Strengthening the big toe with a band, especially from left to right. Wearing toe spacers. Wearing wider toe box shoes.



  • Plantar Fasciitis: Feel a sharp stab in your heel or arch? This often stems from overuse, unsupportive shoes, or tight calves, making those first morning steps a challenge.


  • Exercises that could possibly help: Roll out the bottom of the foot with a frozen water bottle. Calf raises. Banded toe strengthening. You'll be able to find most of these on YouTube.


  • Hammertoes: When toes curl or bend unnaturally, it could be from tight footwear, muscle imbalances, or arthritis, leading to discomfort during movement.


  • Exercises that could possibly help: Using your hands to stretch out your toes. Using a resistance band to stretch the bottom of your feet.

  • Ankle Sprains: A twist or roll can stretch or tear ligaments, often from uneven surfaces or weak stabilizing muscles, leaving you wobbly and sore.


  • Exercises that could possibly help: Every human is different depending on the type of sprain. A slow intro to mobilization and strengthening may be what works best for you. Calf raises are a favorite of mine to restore range of motion.
